The University Education: A Religious Experience :: University Education

The University Education: A Religious Experience If I wanted to do an over-view of my thoughts about the university being related to religion for a layman who doesn't understand anything beneath the surface, then my first paper would be a success. Putting myself in an educated person's position of having to read that as a college essay, I would be insulted. Of course this is a post-English 220 thought. I've opened up to find myself more since then. I'm not saying that have found my perfect style. I've found a new style in myself other than the "Official Style". I'm writing for you in a close version of the "O.S." because this is an explanation about my own writing and I feel that this is the best way to *explain*. Don't worry, by the end I'm sure that I'll have fallen away. I've taken a close look at this paper of mine entitled _The University Education: A Religious Experience_ and found that my thoughts about the metaphor haven't changed a lot. I'm the type of person who finds little religious quirks in everything, though (A result of: accepting evolution; seeing the Bible as a bunch of parables and tall tales - including Genesis and the entire New Testament; reading Don Delillo's _White Noise_ , Heinlein's _A Stranger in a Strange Land_, Baudelaire's "Voyage"; rebelling my over-religious, over-hypocritic mother; oh ya. Moliere and Chaucer; learning about different cultures and religions; etc., etc.). I like comparing people and their actions, myself included, to Christian rituals and events. When it comes to the university as a religion, this comparing multiplies because so many of us here take our education as a life or death matter. And I think it should be. Of course there are those who are hypocritic in the university life - don't worry they get a few second chances and are then abandoned. I'm on one of my second chances. Yes, I feel the same way about my metaphor as I did when I wrote this introduction paper. No, I don't like paper because if I were to truly put effort into the it now I would not have written it that way. My style is much different now (A result of this class and my new interest in fiction writing from Eng. 218). I like to lay things between the lines - let the reader work a little. I'm not a combination of Elliot and Pound, nor do I intend to be.

The Accidental Tourist :: essays research papers

In what ways is Macon the Accidental Tourist? The logo on the front of all Macon's travel guides is a picture of a winged armchair and Macon's wife Sarah believed that this was not only the logo for The Accidental Tourist books, but for Macon himself. Julian describes metaphor of the winged armchair as "while armchair travelers dream of going places, travelling armchairs dream of staying put", and Macon does his best to help his readers feel as if they have never left home. He advises them on the best places to eat and stay, the places that are most like those in America. However, inventing these methods and systems to make it feel as if he never left home is not a chore for Macon. He does not invent the systems to help other people, but himself.Sarah is correct in claiming that the winged armchair is Macon's logo, because it does represent him - he wants to stay home, but is being moved around all over the world, and has to do his best to make it seem like home. In reality , Macon is the Accidental Tourist and the book is more a documentation of the systems he uses to get through life than a 'guide' book. The Accidental Tourist books are less travel guides and more 'instructional guides for life', telling the reader how to live with minimum discomfort, without opening up and hiding within your own cocoon oblivious to the rest of the world. This is exactly how Macon lives every day of his life, and not just those when he is travelling. He lives his entire life trying to package himself so that nothing will change him, nothing will upset him and nothing can harm him. His books reflect this clearly and this is why Sarah considers his books so similar to himself. The books are about Macon - The Accidental Tourist.Above all, Macon wants to control everything. He likes for nothing to be left to chance. When travelling, he only takes what he can carry on to the plane, to eliminate the risk of lost luggage, as well as taking his own travel sized soap powder so that he can clean his clothes without having to worry about foreign laundries and their detergents. His aim is to control his life - to make sure that nothing can ever go wrong, to make sure that nothing can break through his protective 'cocoon'.

The company is having their head office at Delhi and branch office at 16 locations all over the India. Their manufacturing facilities are located at Noida in Uttar Pradesh and Sriperumbudur in Chennai. The company is having two R&D centres in India, at Bangalore and Noida. Both the R&D centres are involved in cutting edge research and development. The company is dealing in the business of IT, Consumer Electronics and Household businesses. They provide high technology consumer electronics. Their products in India are colour television, colour monitors, refrigerators, washing machines, mobile phones, microwave ovens etc. The company is the first in India to introduce fuzzy logic based washing machines, silver nano refrigerator and flat screen TVs. Samsung phones support five Indian languages, namely Hindi, Marathi, Bangla, Punjabi and Tamil. 1.2 Organization Strategy Strategically the electronics industry was considered suitable for countries with poor natural endowment and high skilled labour like Korea. This industry required labour intensity, knowledge intensity but low input  requirements of energy and raw materials. Samsung electronics has not only utilised status-quo resources but also developed dynamic capabilities as it rose to the top. Aggressive and risk-taking investment behaviour in search of entrepreneurial rent and the effective policy of managing technology development contributed to the extraordinary achievement of Samsung Electronics. The company’s remarkable transformation over the last decade or so can shed light on how a firm’s dynamic capabilities, the ability to improve its O-advantages by reconfiguration, transformation and learning, contribute to its home country’s idiosyncratic development path. The company transformed itself from a sub-contractor to a manufacturer to a leading creator of many electronic components by harnessing a talented team. Samsung took quite a few risks initially to achieve its goals, it kept its winning team refreshed by constant vigilance and talent renewal. Samsung employees put leadership ahead of excellent personal development courses and structures which Samsung Electronics evolved in the 2000s. The same quality could be seen in the company’s Suwon campus. That leadership came primarily from Yun Jong Yong and Lee Kun-hee above him. There was full inter relationship between the Samsung group and Samsung electronics which also lead to a coordinated and smooth functioning of Samsung. 1.3 Organization Structure Samsung Electronics organizes its businesses according to its different characteristics in technology, markets and consumers as either Digital Media & Communications (DMC) or Device Solutions (DS) division, strengthening their independent operating structure. DMC is grouped into Consumer Electronics (CE) and IT & Mobile Communications (IM) divisions. The CE division took charge of the visual display business department and home appliances department. The IM division is in charge of managing wireless businesses, IT Solutions, Network business, digital imaging displays and the Media Solution Center. This restructuring reflects changes which were made to the workforce with the hiring of soft power experts which has become more important than ever  in the ‘Smart’ age. They have already announced their intention to make a paradigm shift by becoming a soft driven company and established a ‘Software’ center in order to increase their software capacity until it’s on a par with their world renowned manufacturing. Changes in the Device Solutions (DS) division also took place including expansion of the organizations in charge of software, controller and solution development to ensure separate teams for each. The expansion of the software related organizations was done to realize Samsung Electronics vision of creating new values and experiences by combining Samsung’s existing strength in hardware design with optimized software and an emotionally appealing user interface. Samsung Electronics also expanded the organization in charge of bio and medical device business and expanded the Bio Lab at Samsung Technology Research Center into the Bio Research Center. They also hired bio material experts to strengthen their research in this area and increased support for bio similar and bio medical research. Organization Chart Refer Exhibit 1 for detailed description of Samsung’s organizational chart with respect to Samsung mobile division of India. 1.4 Organization Culture It has become increasingly important for employees to have vested stake in the growth potential of its company. People expect a participatory work environment where they can feel a sense of dignity, pride, and ownership of the organization’s vision. Samsung Electronics strives to build a creative organizational culture, and acknowledges that the investment they make in strengthening the core competencies of their employees will have a direct impact on their competitiveness. They actively promote a flexible organizational culture that allows employees to pursue a healthy work-life balance, in a dynamic, creative and challenging work environment that is not risk-averse. As an international company they embrace individuals with  different background and abilities. Work and Life Balance through Work Smart: Establishing a Work Culture that Encourages Learning and Development: Samsung Electronics has established a Creative Development Research Institute System to provide employees with opportunities to pursue creative new ideas that take full advantage of their talents and professional passions in a way that encourages taking risks. This new initiative encourages employees to be more entrepreneurial in developing creative ideas that can become new businesses. Once an employee’s plan is accepted, they may concentrate on the project as a member of a task force for up to one year. During this period, they will be free from their usual responsibilities and may receive a dedicated work space, development expenses and necessary equipment as appropriate. Successful outcomes are encouraged through an incentive program; however they are not subject to penalty if they don’t achieve their goals. Some of the other key-features of Samsung’s culture are: * Talent based recruiting of Software and Design experts * Diversity Management * Employees Health and Safety * Integrity Management * Increasing Social Contribution 1.5 Technology Employed: The organization’s core technology is manufacturing which consists of raw material inputs, a transformation work process that changes and adds value to the raw material and produces the ultimate product or service output that is sold to the consumers in the environment. Core Technology On the other hand, Samsung Electronics has also a department work process  that is important to the organization but is not directly related to its primary mission and that we call as non-core technology. For Samsung Electronics, that major non-core technology is Research and Development (R&D) which transforms ideas into new products. Some of the other departments of non-core technology are Human Resources, Accounting, and Marketing etc. Refer Exhibit 2 for Samsung’s Mobile division R&D office structure in India. 1.6 Organization Size: Samsung Electronics has a total of 196 subsidiaries around the world. Important of Education Essay

Education means considerably more than than just tutoring a pupil to read, write, and manipulate numbers. Computers, the Internet, and advanced electronic devices ar becoming infixed in day-by-day life and possess changed the modal value study is gathered. How this new technology is utilized in the curriculum and managed by t to each oneers will nominate an main(prenominal) role to play in widening the resource and knowledge plant for wholly students. Technology affects the elbow room teachers teach and students learn. To make the high hat habituate of info technology (IT), grooms ingest a execut adapted plan to fully integrate it into all aspects of the curriculum so students atomic number 18 taught how, why, and when to expenditure technology to further enhance their learning. If a school does non have a make it plan of how and why it wishes to human actionion IT, then it runs the risk of wasting money. In schools today, nearly all classrooms have entrance fee to a computer. However, m whatsoever schools mistake this as incorporating information technology into the curriculum. School round take aim to research what IT is available and what would best serve the schools purpose, non simply purchase the latest equipment. in that location should be a policy stating how IT is handout to assist pupils development and what teachers necessitate pupils to secure (Reksten, 2000). Staff members need to be clear about what they want IT to do for them to begin with they can start incorporating it into their lessons. The only guidance information technology is going to be callful to schools is if all staff members argon well- aware and fully supported. It is the principals responsibility, and should be part of the schools plan, to en certainly that all staff argon consulted about the changes, and that the change is guardedly organised. approximately teachers whitethorn be resistant, especially if they have not had much experience with c omputers, so training teachers is essential in implementing IT into the school curriculum. Staff members must feel knobbed in the process of acquiring technology, and in learning how to operate it, in vow for them to increase their confidence in use IT as a curriculum quill. Teachers are only going to be able to incorporate IT into their lessons if they are competent users themselves (Reksten, 2000).In addition, teachers need to be advised that IT at bottom the classroom is extremely flexible, but that they need to plan what purpose IT serves in each lesson. The skills a child learns are the authorised part of any lesson, and it is the same with technology. IT take to be utilize and understood in all subjugates in the same way as the ability to read is requirement for all subjects, and must be used across the curriculum, in the same way that a pen and pencil are used in most subject areas (Ager, 2000, p. 15). The best way to plan the use of IT in the classroom is to appro ach it as simply a learning tool that is more advanced (and more exciting) than the handed-down pen and paper. It is vitally important for students to be taught the strategies for using IT. Children also need to be fully informed about the capabilities of IT in front being asked to use it. Pupils should be aware that the contexts in which they use IT will change, and they need to know what the appropriate use of IT is and what is not. Whilst it is important that children learn to use IT effectively, teachers must underscore that IT is not always suitable. According to Apter (1968), the endangerment is that the computer dehumanizes people and inevitably leads them to act like machines themselves (p. 58). Teachers must make sure they plan to use variety in their lessons. Too much IT instruction may be just as pestilential to a child as not enough. The usefulness of IT in the classroom, as with any learning tool, depends on the innovation and tomography of the teacher. It is impera tive, though, that the implementation of IT into a school is carefully planned. The current information explosion makes it essential that IT be used extensively in spite of appearance the classroom so children know how to use IT appropriately and effectively. Teachers must, therefore, be fully informed about what kinds of IT are available and whether or not they are appropriate for classroom use. School boards and teachers must therefore condition that all staff have a clear plan about what they want their students to achieve through IT. The appropriate internalisation of IT into the classroom will broaden the minds and skills of students, allowing them to be better prepared for further technical advances.

Enterprise Architecture as Strategy Essay

Enterprise Architecture as Strategy Essay

Infrastructure is currently an agency, instead of an asset. Thus, a foundation in which an organization can determine how to achieve current and future aims. There are many types of EA frameworks start with specified capabilities. Some of these frameworks include ToGAF, Zachman, FEAF, DoDAF and EAP. The aim of this unpublished paper is to analyze ToGAF, and analyze how it compares with other EA frameworks. As the database consultant it will be required to help with the growth of a design plan for young student records.Business architecture allows the definition of governance, business strategy, the organization and any other important processes of the given organization.Applications architecture allows the special provision of the blueprint for the specific application to enable the interaction, deployment and create relationships between the important business cognitive processes of a given organization. Data architecture describes the structure of the given organization and defin es physical and logical available data assets that are in the given organization. Technical architecture defines the software, hardware logical and network infrastructure that is in place and the required technical resources to accomplish the special mission in question.

Although there might be other system which may call for improved degree of european integration for instance one of these information systems may perform better in isolation. Its ability to be tailored ensures that organizational needs are factored in each of the different execution steps of the architecture planning process. The process is usually cyclic and iterative because the entire process is split into phases. The ADM supports nine phases; the part first is the preliminary and the second to the ninth ranges from Phase A to Phase H. Each phase requirements are checked and ensured that it fulfills its basic needs.Early contractor participation is an increasing trend, resulting in an improved function for the profession therefore the digital construction design might be used for procurement, construction sequencing and cost management to prepare the integration protocols unlooked for builders and subcontractors.Enterprise Continuum brings together Solutions and Architecture Continuum. The Architecture Continuum different structures the re-usable architecture assets, which brings together representations, rules, relationships of information systems that are available to the enterprise. The Solutions Continuum defines the blocks that are used by the Architecture Continuum. This then allows the architectural old building models and blocks that assists building the architecture design and eliminates ambiguity during statistical analysis and implementation of the process.

Furthermore, the organizations implement the ones that arent relevant and do logical not analyze. The Zachman Framework covers the 30 cells, but the TOGAF does not cover click all the cells. However, it is possible for the TOGAF to develop viewpoints to accomplish aspects of Zachman Framework. Nevertheless, there are some viewpoints that are supported by TOGAF, which are not included in the Zachman Framework. For example, the missing viewpoints include manageability and security.Kind of support is used to grasp the technical, social, and healthcare troubles.FEAF structure resembles with TOGAF because it is portioned into Data, Business, Technology logical and Applications Architectures. Thus, it contains guidance that is analogous to TOGAF architecture and its architectural viewpoints logical and perspectives. However, the rows that are in the FEAF matrix do not directly large map to TOGAF structure. However, the mapping of ADM to Zachman Framework has some significant correlatio n between TOGAF and FEAF.

Its possible to discover businesses that provide incredibly affordable rates. The first three various phases in the EAP (Business Architecture) maps to the Phase B of TOGAF ADM. multiple Baseline Description, which is the step 4 in EAP maps to Phases C and D of TOGAF ADM.These are some of the basic features that both frameworks share. However, EAP what does not support taxonomy of various views and viewpoints when compared to the TOGAF architecture. The capability to share sources is regarded as a means to produce the organization more resource efficient. This perspective is different when it comes to the DODAF architecture. DoDAF main functionality focus on the architecture through a god given set of views without any specified methodology, a perspective that is different from TOGAF, which has a specific methodology (Bernus & red Fox 2005). ADM guides the way that TOGAF operates, an aspect that is less exhibited in the DoDAF.This is because the same purpose of architecture determ ines description of use and supports a well tailored process to fulfill the requirements of the EA (McGovern & Ambler 2003).

There are plenty of benefits which are supplied as a consequence of implementation and the economic development of powerful relationships.Deliverables and artifacts that are defined in the DoDAF have no corresponding parts in the TOGAF ADM. This is because DoDAF goes deeper in determining details of the specific architecture. Thus, DoDAF are at the system design level rather than in TOGAF, which is in the architecture level. Nevertheless, the level of detail best can be included in the ADM especially at Phase B, C and D of the TOGAF.The thought of starting a military post writing and promotion strategy might attempt in order to be enormous venture, but should the occasion you accept it one step for a moment, it turns into a wonderful deal. Thus, TOGAF plays an important role, which is envisaged by other Enterprise Architecture Framework. It fulfills the requirements that it is assigned, however, fulfills it different from the other EA frameworks. ReferencesBernus, P. & Fox, M. < /p>
